Navigating the Beach Club Community

Using the Left Navigation

These are the links that appear on the left side of the Beach Club community pages. They link you to all of the main pages of the community, including your profile and activity if you are a member.

How do I join?

Click the link at the top left of the page screen titled “Sign Up.” On this page, you will be asked to fill out some information, including what you would like your username to be, your password, and more. What each field on this page means:

• Username: you will use this to log in to the Beach Club community. It will also be used by other members if they want to reference you in any of their posts.
• Email Address: this is the email address that will be used to communicate with you should you ever need to reset your password. It is also how we will send you notifications of Beach Club activity that directly involves you.
• Password: Your password will be used every time you want to log in to the Beach Club community.

How do I post to my Activity?

• If you are not already at the Beach Club homepage, click the button near the top of the screen titled “Beach Club.”
• From here, click the “My Activity” link on the left of the page.
• Type your message into the text box on the page right under where it asks you what’s new.
• When you are done typing your message, click the “Post Update” button. You Activity update is now posted.

How do I see all community activity?

• If you are not already at the Beach Club homepage, click the button near the top of the screen titled “Beach Club.”
• Click the link on the left of the page titled “Beach Club Activity”
• On the page that appears, you can see the latest community activity and post an update of your own.

How do I see just my friends’ activity?

• If you are not already at the Beach Club homepage, click the button near the top of the screen titled “Beach Club.”
• From here, click the “My Activity” link on the left of the page.
• Click the link near the middle of the page titled “My Friends Activity”
• You can now view all of the recent activity from your friends only.

How do I upload photos?

• If you are not already at the Beach Club homepage, click the button near the top of the screen titled “Beach Club.”
• From here, click the “My Activity” link on the left of the page.
• Click the link near the middle of the page titled “Gallery” with a number next to it, e.g. “Gallery (0)”. Make sure the link you click has some number next to it like this example.
• On the screen that appears, click “Create Gallery.”
• Make sure that “Photo Gallery” is selected from the dropdown menu at the top of the form. Name your new gallery, give it a description, and select a visibility setting.
• Click “Save Gallery” to create the gallery.
• On the next page, click “Browse.”
• Find the images you want to upload on your computer, and click “Open” after selecting it.
• Here you can title your image, give a description and set the visibility for individual images.
• Click browse again to upload another image.
• When you have uploaded all of the images you want to add to this album, click “Upload & Save.”

How do I upload videos?

• If you are not already at the Beach Club homepage, click the button near the top of the screen titled “Beach Club.”
• From here, click the “My Activity” link on the left of the page.
• Click the link near the middle of the page titled “Galleries” with a number next to it, e.g. “Gallery (0)”. Make sure the link you click has some number next to it like this example.
• On the screen that appears, click “Create Gallery.”
• Make sure that “Video Gallery” is selected from the dropdown menu at the top of the form. Name your new gallery, give it a description, and select a visibility setting.
• Click “Save Gallery” to create the gallery.
• On the next page, click the tab labeled “Add from Web.”
• In the text box on the screen that appears, paste the URL of the Youtube, Vimeo, Viddler, Hulu, or blip.tv video you want to upload.
• Click “Add”.
• If you would like to add multiple videos to the gallery, enter another URL into the text box and press “Add” again.

How do I make friend requests?

• If you are not already at the Beach Club homepage, click the button near the top of the screen titled “Beach Club.”
• On the left, click “Beach Club Members.”
• On this page, you will see a list of members. Scroll down to see more members. At the bottom, you can go to the next page.
• Use the dropdown menu to the right, above the list of members to select a sorting mode.
• When you find a member whom you would like to send a friend request, click “Add Friend” under their name.

How do I accept friend requests?

• If you are not already at the Beach Club homepage, click the button near the top of the screen titled “Beach Club.”
• From here, click the “My Activity” link on the left of the page.
• Near the center of the screen, click the link titled “Friends” followed by a number in parentheses, e.g. “Friends (0).”
• On the screen that appears, click the link near the center of the screen titled “My Friend Requests.”
• Here you can see all of your outstanding friend requests. Click “Accept” or “Reject” by each request to respond to it.

How do I share my activity, posts, photos, and videos?

• If you are not already at the Beach Club homepage, click the button near the top of the screen titled “Beach Club.”
• Using the icons that appear after any activity post, photo or video you can share with Facebook, Twitter. Simply click the icon of the website you wish to share on and follow the on-screen instructions to share with friends and family. Additionally, you can Plus One the activity, post or video using the Google Plus icon.

How do I create a group?

• If you are not already at the Beach Club homepage, click the button near the top of the screen titled “Beach Club.”
• On the left, click the link titled “Beach Club Groups.”
• On the page that follows, click “Create A Group” near the top of the page.
• On the page you are brought to, the “Details” page, enter a group name and description. Click “Create and Continue” when you are done.
• On the next page, select a visibility mode, then click the button titled “Next Step.”
• Here you can upload an avatar by clicking “Choose File” and finding the image you want to use as an avatar on your computer. Click “Upload Image” when you have selected the image you want to use as the avatar. Click “Next Step” to continue.
• On the next page, you can select friends to send invites to. After selecting everyone you want to send invitations, click “Finish.”

How do I edit my profile?

• If you are not already at the Beach Club homepage, click the button near the top of the screen titled “Beach Club.”
• From here, click the “My Activity” link on the left of the page.
• Near the center of the page, click “Profile.”
• On this page, click “Edit Profile” near the middle of the page.
• Here you can change your first name, last name, zip code, and about me paragraph.

How do I change my avatar?

• If you are not already at the Beach Club homepage, click the button near the top of the screen titled “Beach Club.”
• From here, click the “My Activity” link on the left of the page.
• Near the center of the page, click “Profile.”
• On this page, click “Change Avatar” near the center of the page.
• To choose a file from your computer, click the “Choose File” button. Find the file on your computer and select it. Once the file is selected and the file dialog closed, click it “Upload Image” button.

How do I change my password or email address?

• If you are not already at the Beach Club homepage, click the button near the top of the screen titled “Beach Club.”
• From here, click the “My Activity” link on the left of the page.
• Near the center of the page, to the right, click “Edit Settings & Notifications.”
• On this page, you can edit the email address that is used to contact you and sent you notifications. You can also change your password by entering the new password twice. Click “Save Changes” to finish.

How do I edit notification settings?

• If you are not already at the Beach Club homepage, click the button near the top of the screen titled “Beach Club.”
• From here, click the “My Activity” link on the left of the page.
• Near the center of the page, to the right, click “Edit Settings & Notifications.”
• On the next page, click “Edit Notification Settings” near the middle of the screen.
• On this page, you can select which events you want to receive email notifications for. Use the radio buttons to choose “Yes” or “No” next to each event type.
